Hi everyone. My name is Ross Bagurdes, and welcome to my course WAN Technologies. I am a network engineer with 20 years' experience building and managing enterprise networks and teaching people about them. Wide area networks, or WANs, are used to connect remote facilities together. These remote facilities might be a mile apart or they might be hundreds of miles apart. WAN technologies provide the connections and protocols needed to allow remote facilities to connect into the corporate network. We'll cover several WAN technologies in this course including point-to-point serial links using Point-to-Point Protocol, Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol, Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet. We'll talk about dark fiber and Metro Ethernet, as well as MPLS. We'll also look at building GRE tunnels, as well as describe VPN tunnel operation. By the end of this course, you'll be able to implement a PPP connection using encrypted authentication, you'll bundle several serial links together to increase the bandwidth between two sites, and you'll also be able to troubleshoot PPPoE, as well as build a GRE tunnel.
